My Facial Regime

I've always had issues with my skin since I was a teen. And I thought eventually the acne will go away and I will be fine. Well...I'm now in my 30's and still have problem skin. I've tried just about every acne treatment under the sun and its either too harsh or not harsh enough. So I've been on the hunt for a good facial regime to help get rid of some if the unwanted breakouts I get. I watched my go to MUA's, ShanaJanelle, video on how she got clear skin and thought to try out some of her methods and products being as though we have similar skin types. Check out her video here!

I've tried the Eminence Pear & Poppy Seed microderm polisher facial scrub she spoke of and it was like heaven on my face (and lips)! I used that before going to bed 3 times a week and then used peroxide, a night cream and Neosporin lip health daily hydration. Every morning I use Target's Up & Up Black head facial scrub with salicylic acid and again use peroxide, a light moisturizer and Neosporin lip health.

While I haven't been as consistent as I'd like, I do see the results of this combination if products. With spring and summer approaching I've decided to be proactive and get clear skin before the heat and humidity approach us. I am going to practice this routine as consistently as possible...with one minor change. Instead of the Eminence microderm polisher, I will be using a home made product that is just as effective. Sea salt and olive oil...that's right, you can make this right at home and can be used as a lip and body scrub as well! (You know I'm all about cutting costs.)

So here is a picture of me today (Monday)...no makeup and fabulously flawed! I will report back in 1 week with an update and again in 2 weeks. I hope this helps and let me know if you've tried a new skin care regime.

MAC Fashion Sets Purchases

As you all may or may not know, MAC Cosmetics just released a new collection. Here's how they described this collection.

So I was able to get my hands on Silly and Heroine lipsticks. I love Heroine! Don't get me wrong...Silly is a pretty pink, but Heroine has my heart lol.

Kevyn Aucoin Concealer and Brow Pencil

Have you checked out any of the Kevyn Aucoin products? I am really liking the concealer and brow pencil in brunette. I've never been one to wear a lot of makeup but I've been schooled by my Partner in Pretty Shana Janelle and now I get it lol. Shana and I often have makeup consultations being as though I totally look up to her as a makeup artist and the girl knows her stuff. So I asked her about a concealer...what's the best to use...how to properly apply it...what powder to use to set it...and she asked had I tried the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. So luckily the Spalon she works at (Celadon in downtown DC) sells it! *insert hearts and smiles* This concealer is amazing! Not only did it brighten up my under eye area...I use it to shape my brows and act as a highlight. The product is very creamy, easy to work with, and a little (and I mean very little) goes a long...long way. The retail price is about $45-$48 depending on where you purchase.

Now...lets talk brows. I've been on a serious hunt for the right brow product. I have a decent brow shape but I wanted something to define them a little more. So Shana showed me what she now uses. I love this brow pencil! It's not extremely heavy like some other pencils I've tried and no need to be light handed with it. Also, the pencil lead itself is very small. So small you can draw individual hairs with it. This pencil retails for about $25. Yup...I'm in love again!

Makeup & Moscato via Shana Janelle

I just watched one of my favorite makeup artist, Shana Janelle , newest video on YouTube.  Oh Em Gee!!!!!  I learned so much in this short video...well 20 minute video lol...and I'm soooo amazed!  Now you guys know that I am no MUA or anything like that...I just love makeup/fashion/beauty.  So any time I get to watch her and any other professional MUAs I get super excited.  Now the video she just posted was an event she attended "Makeup & Moscato" where she got to learn from the very talented Rondell Johnson.  Visit his site here: http://www.rjohnbeauty.com/  The makeup professionals, and some who are just starting out, got the opportunity to mix and mingle with other makeup enthusiasts as well as have a Q&A session with Rondell himself.  Many of the questions that the ladies asked, were questions I've had myself.  So it was very nice to get the answers...or should I say, be guided in the right direction to get the answers to these questions.  Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think!

Miami Trip 2011
