Puerto Rico Haul

So as you all remember hubby and I went to Puerto Rico a few weeks ago. I'm finally showing you the stuff I got for myself. I didn't go crazy like I normally do when I shop at the outlet mall. I think it was due to the fact we went to the mall on a Saturday and it was crowded. I don't do crowded malls well...it kinda discourages me from looking and buying like I want. However I did get two really cute rompers and some jewelry. I was skeptical of trying on a large in these two rompers but to my surprise, they fit! Lol.

This one is a strapless one. I like the colors in it and I can always put on some cute black heels/sandals with it. I was also thinking it needs a wide belt of some sort. This one was $34.99.

This one is a really cute halter. I'm not sure what shoes I have that could go with this one. I mean, of course I have black shoes but I was thinking maybe something totally outside the box lol. And as with the other one I'd put a belt with this. (Please excuse the hangers in the pic lol)

Each of these was only .99! Can't beat that...even if it is just costume/cheap jewelry lol.
Everything I got for myself came from House of Blue.

Paint Me Pretty 3D Event

So this past Sunday I went to the Paint Me Pretty 3D make up event.  I’m not sure what I expected but I had a great time!  I helped my girl Taz of “Playing in Paint” who was one of the sponsors of the event.  We had some pretty nice give aways for the ladies in attendance.  One person even got a basket o’ goodies ($25 gift certificate, 2 custom mixed pigments, eyeliner, a lipstick, and …) just for knowing 3 of the MUAs participating in the event.  How cool is that?!?  Just sitting at the booth allowed me to ask any questions about makeup that I had.  I absolutely love the quad that Taz used to do my eyes…Rock Diva
I’m going to do a look with this quad very soon!  I didn’t wander around that long but I was sure to get business cards from some of the vendors that I liked.  There was jewelry, and handbags, and makeup, clothes, candles, body butters…it was too much for me to even try to remember.
The show was awesome!  I think all of the MUAs did a great job.  Trying to create 5 different looks in about 2 hours is NO JOKE!  Congratulations to the winner Mia Dixon for her outstanding makeup work!  There were also folks who did body art (they were not competing).  Now that takes talent and patience lol.  Some of the designs and ideas that they came up with were pretty cool.
All in all I had a wonderful time.  I cannot thank Taz enough for allowing me to a part of this event and I can’t wait to help her out again.  There is so much to learn being the newbie that I am.  I can't find a link to the pictures but when I do, I'll update the post.  (Sorry about that blush*)

Make up...Make up...Make up...

I have wanted to get into make up more now that I’ve gotten my feet wet so to speak.  So, I’ve been all over YouTube looking to see what products the makeup gurus like.  And it seems that a lot of the products are on the expensive side (IMO).  Let me say that when it comes to getting things for me I am extremely CHEAP!  So, I’m partial to ELF products.  You can NOT beat their prices…which I love.  There are some products that I have gotten from them that I just don’t care for but for the most part I have been really pleased with what I have gotten from them.  I’m looking to venture out to other cosmetic brands that are on the not so expensive end.  I’ve gotten a NYX  jumbo eye pencil which I use as a base and I love it!  I’ve also gotten Wet N Wild mascara and lots of nail polishes…love those as well.  I haven’t gotten into MAC all that much but I do have a palette that I got a few years back, a lip liner in chestnut which I absolutely love, and I had some shadows (I only have 1 now) which were misplaced during my move from college back home L.  My home girl Shana Janelle put me on to a website http://www.thebodyneeds2.com/ which sells sample size cosmetics.  I am dying to get a few and try them out!  I also want to try some of the Sleek palettes which I learned about from Samantha of Beauty Crush

Now, this weekend I am going to be a face model for my girl Taz at the Paint Me Pretty 3D event here in DC.  The event is from 4pm to 11:30pm at the F.U.R. nightclub.  You can go to the Playing In Paint website for all the details.  I'm super excited about this event because it's my first real makeup/beauty event and I just know I'm going to learn so much!  I'll be sure to post about this next week!

So, here are a couple of my favorite makeup items...any additional suggestions are greatly appreciated!  Oh, and I am a brush whore (Thanks Shana for that phrase lol)  I love love love brushes!  I'm always using a new brush for everything I do.  I'd love to hear what suggestions you have for me in the brush area.
Besos,
Mickey

I'm new to this whole make-up thing....

Hey beauty world.  I have wanted to do a make up post, but I’m new to this whole make up thing and I’m not all that experienced with it, so please bear with me.  And like Erykah Badu said…”Keep in mind that I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my ish” lol.  I have oily skin and I tend to break out easily so most days I do not wear foundation, blush, bronzer etc.  I do my eyes and some lipstick or gloss and that’s it.  I’m working on this blending thing and it’s not as easy (to me) as some folks make it look.  Also, I am horrible with this whole winged liner thing.  Anyone want to help me out with this??? LOL.  With that being said…here are a few looks that I have tried out.  Enjoy!  And your constructive criticism is welcomed…just be gentle.

Puerto Rico

Hubby and I have been going to Puerto Rico every year since we got married.  And without fail…we went again this year.  We usually stay in San Juan when we visit, but this time we stayed near El Yunce (the rainforest) at the Gran Melia Golf Resort.  It rained every day we were there, but we made the best of it.  Plust a little R&R never hurt anybody!  There is a little mall we like to go to that has some really good prices on stuff.  (Haul coming soon.)  Here is a little montage if you will of our trip.   Enjoy!!!
